True Blood Season

True Blood has to be one of the most well-written series on television today, and as one season comes to an end (all too soon), you can't help but look forward to the next True Blood season, wondering what else they're going to come up with.

While the series is clearly about vampires, it doesn't stop there, as we also encounter faeries, shapeshifters, a maenad, and werewolves.

Then there is, of course, plenty of romantic intrigue, racial tension (between humans and vampires, for the most part), politics, murder, fantasy, and all with a healthy dose of humour and some stunning special effects thrown in for good measure.

The show is set in a fictional town called Bon Temps, in Louisiana, and it fits the story line just perfectly - small town people with small town thinking.

A combination of brilliant casting and great acting (leading roles are played by Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer - who are now married to each other, by the way) creates an entire set of characters that are believable, even against the backdrop of the strange array of otherworldly creatures that inhabit this series.

Is the show for everyone?

No, of course not. There will be those who are offended by the language (it is vulgar, at times), the occasional nudity, the overt homosexuality, the religious overtones, and those who just don't like the subject matter.

But approach it with an open mind and there's plenty to like about it!
